Funeral Information
Before you meet with us
If you are arranging the service of a loved one, there are several things that you may wish to do before we meet for the first time to help make things easier.
Our arrangement forms can be printed out and filled in prior to the funeral arrangement if you wish. This is the information we will pass on to the Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages.
Chapel Services
For those who wish to have a formal chapel service for their loved one, Cairns Funeral Directors offers the Chapel of Memories.
Our chapel will comfortably seat 300 guests, so it is suitable for small, as well as larger services. Our chapel will be decorated for funeral services to suit all ages and we will happily let you decorate the facility to suit the personality of your loved one. You may also include any important religious, traditional or cultural aspects to your loved one’s service.
We understand that a memorial is a personal time to celebrate your loved one’s life and we want to give each family the freedom to do so in their own way. The Chapel of Memories is always available for viewings, services and other types of functions on weekends and after hours.
Burial or Cremation?
The decision of whether to bury or cremate your loved one is a personal choice that may have religious or cultural significance to you.
Burial
The Cairns City Council offers various options to suit your needs. These range from a site at Martyn Street, Forest View, Babinda or Gordonvale. You can choose between a lawn plaque, headstone, mausoleum or monumental sections. Our Funeral Directors can assist you with these options during the funeral arrangement or at a later date. Cremation
Cremation is the preferred choice for up to 70% of families in Australia. The funeral service can be held in our chapel or a venue of your choice. Our Chapel of Memories is fully air-conditioned and can hold up to 300 people. We have two large plasma TV screens to accommodate families who wish to have a slide show of their loved one playing during the service.
